Chaia Yiddish Techno Fundraiser for MECA

  • Twilight Cafe & Bar 832 Southeast Grand Avenue Portland, OR, 97214 United States (map)

Join JVP for a night of Anti-Zionist Yiddish Techno to raise funds for the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA)! $9-36 sliding scale. NOTAFLOF but please give as generously as you can.

We are thrilled to welcome Chaia, a New York-based Anti-Zionist Yiddish artist, who combines house and techno grooves with klezmer and Yiddish music. First hour will be a conversation with Chaia about Yiddish lineages of anti-Zionism and radicalism. Then Chaia will perform a live music set for cathartic dancing and communal connection.

This event is for anyone who is feeling outraged, lonely, helpless, or lost about the ongoing genocide in Palestine and is seeking like-minded community right now. As Israel’s violence in Gaza worsens and we continue to protest the horrific injustice — we must build a resilient, life-affirming, effective culture of solidarity here at home. Our nation and our local government officials are literally funding this genocide, which means our work starts here, in Portland, to resist, educate, and struggle for Palestinian liberation.

You do not need to be Jewish, religious, or experienced in political organizing to attend. Come to learn, come to dance, come to give what you can to MECA’s life-saving work. It is never too late to join our movement.

We are here, and we are growing and we would love to be in community with you. See you on June 23!
