Solidarity Shabbat: Free Palestine. Protect Immigrants.

Join us in ritual action and a march to defend Palestinian and immigrant human rights.

  • 4 PM: Bannering along Madison & 3rd

  • 5 PM: Shabbat Ritual

  • 6 PM: March to the Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building (Federal Immigration Court)—rally and closing of service in front of Federal Building

Stop the genocide. Stop the arrests, detentions, and deportations. Stop the dehumanization of our communities. Join JVP and our immigrant justice partners as we mark the Jewish Sabbath by centering and uplifting Palestinian and immigrant calls to action.

  • We ask all participants to wear black for this solidarity shabbat to express our collective grief .

    •  👶 CHILDCARE UPDATE - This is a family friendly event. We will be able to provide childcare.

    • 😷 MASKING - Please wear a KN94/N95 mask! We will have extras available. This keeps our bodies safer + those with heightened risk levels safer from surveillance. 

    •  🚗 TRANSPORTATION - Lots of paid parking and paid street parking available in the immediate vicinity. Unpaid street parking available farther away. Streetcar and bus lines are available within 1-2 blocks. and MAX lines are within 4-5 blocks. 

    •  🚶 MOBILITY & MOVEMENT -  A portion of the event will be stationary on paved surfaces and an ADA-accessible plaza and paved sidewalks. We will walk approximately 1 block / across the street as part of our symbolic march. 

    •  🪑 SEATING - We will have limited chairs available for community needs, but you are welcome to bring your own seating. 

    •  🚽 RESTROOMS - There are no public restrooms within a few blocks of the location.

    •  ☀️ / 🌧️ WEATHER - Event will be outdoors. Currently not forecasted to rain but that could change. Please come prepared.

    •  🥨 FOOD - No food will be provided, in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

    • 🔊 SPEAKERS & NOISE - There will be a speaker system with options for people to be close or far from the speakers. This will be a loud event with amplified voices and chanting. Please consider bringing ear plugs.

    •  🗣️ TRANSLATION - Some speakers may use languages such as Arabic or Hebrew phrases, which may not be translated. No ASL interpretation provided.

    •  💡 VISIBILITY - Event will start in the daylight and end near dusk.

Únete a JVP y a nuestros socios por la justicia inmigrante mientras celebramos el Shabat judío centrándonos y elevando los llamados a la acción de las comunidades Palestina e inmigrante.

    Acompáñanos en una acción ritual y una marcha para defender los derechos humanos de personas inmigrantes y Palestinas.

    5 p.m.: Ritual de Shabat
    6 p.m.: Marcha hacia el edificio federal Edith Green–Wendell Wyatt (Tribunal Federal de Inmigración)—manifestación y cierre del servicio frente al edificio federal

    Pedimos a todas las personas participantes que se vistan de negro para este shabat de solidaridad como expresión de nuestro dolor colectivo.

    Información De Acceso

    • Cuidado de niños:  Disponible para familias que lo deseen.

    • Enmascaramiento: ¡Por favor, usen mascarillas KN94/N95! Tendremos mascarillas adicionales disponibles. Estas no solamente nos protegen de microbios, sino también del riesgo de la vigilancia.

    • Transporte: El estacionamiento en el área y las calles aledañas se cobra. Pueden encontrar algunos lugares gratuitos en las calles más alejadas. Hay paradas cercanas del Max y de varias rutas del autobús.

    • Movilidad y movimiento: La mayor parte del evento se realizará sin movimiento, y la plaza es accesible para personas con discapacidad. Caminaremos aproximadamente una cuadra como parte de nuestra marcha simbólica.

    • Asientos:Tendremos sillas limitadas disponibles para las necesidades de la comunidad, o puede traer sus propios asientos.La plaza Terry Schrunk tiene gradas de ladrillo.

    • Baños: La ubicación y sus alrededores inmediatos carecen de baños públicos.

    • Clima: El evento será al aire libre. Recomendamos que vengan preparados según los pronósticos.

    • Alimentos: En solidaridad con los Palestinos en Gaza, no se ofrecerá comida. 

    • Parlantes: Este será un evento ruidoso con voces amplificadas y cánticos. Sugerimos que las personas muy sensibles a esto traigan tapones para su uso.

    • Traducción: Algunos oradores podrían usar frases en Árabe o Hebreo sin traducción. No se ofrece interpretación al Español o ASL.

    • Visibilidad: El evento comenzará durante el día y finalizará cerca del anochecer.
