Detainees in US and Israel face similar abuses
Oregon lawmakers call to allow detained immigrants to contact family and legal support. Meanwhile, amidst pressure from US Congress, Israel continues to defend the denial of these same basic needs to detained Palestinian-American citizen Mohammed Ibrahim. Ibrahim’s case is receiving deserved US attention due to his US citizenship and age. There are thousands of Palestinian people detained by Israel who have also been denied contact to their families or legal counsel, as well as endured torture, starvation, and/or a myriad of other human rights abuses. Many of these people are held without charge or trial.
Even as Palestinians can be held without charge, Israel parliament passes first reading of death penalty for ‘terrorism’ law that is believed to dominantly affect Palestinians and not attacks from Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
